Financial Literacy

TRAINING & WORKSHOPS

Our approach to money and our emotions around it are often learned behaviors passed through generations. To help break the cycles that keep families in poverty, Green Mountain United Way has developed a set of resources and trainings directed toward youth and families to teach them good financial concepts, so that families can work together to move toward personal stability and financial mobility.

Through training and education, we deliver fully customizable financial literacy training and workshops for workplaces, managers and supervisors, financial coaches, resource coordinators, client-facing professionals, and youth and student groups, including the annual Youth Development Program with our long-time partner Elevate Youth Services.

Workshops cover a range of topics, including:

  • K.E.E.P. Financial Coaching that provides train-the-trainer content and certification for client-facing professionals who want to help their clients achieve their financial goals. (Follow this link for more information and to register for the next session of K.E.E.P. Financial Coaching.)

  • Working Bridges Concepts with Strain for supervisors, managers, and employees who support others to learn how scarcity shows up in the workplace and how community resources and connection can disrupt the cycles of scarcity.

  • Navigating Benefits Cliff designed for leadership, human resources, supervisors, and business owners to examine the true cost of public benefits, and the impact to business and employees when the resources go away, with a focus on solutions and best practice.

  • Financial Education workshops help employees gain financial stability through building credit, managing debt, developing money goals, budgeting, and saving for the future.

  • Hope training works to teach participants how to create communities and systems of care.

  • Community Resource Lunch & Learns provide current information on resource topics such as housing, child care, home ownership, transportation, healthcare, legal resources, the basics of tax preparation, and more.
