Green Mountain United Way continues its efforts to present Financial Literacy Workshops within its service area. We are in the process of branding our presentations so that they are consistent regardless of where we go and who is delivering the information.
On July 26, 2016, GMUW presented a workshop on “Budgeting” to the staff and participants at BAART in St. Johnsbury. Also present were staff members from the Vermont Department of Health. BAART stands for Bay Area Addiction Research Treatment, which is where the treatment centers across the country began. In our region BAART has facilities in both St. Johnsbury and Newport.
The GMUW budgeting packet was distributed to all attendees and included a Financial Management Questionnaire, a Budget Tool where one can enter monthly income and expenses; a Balance Sheet Tool where the bottom line is one’s Net Worth; a Cash Flow Budget Tool where one can break down income and expenses by the number of weeks in a month; and a tracking sheet for breaking down different expenses. Discussion followed concerning strategies to increase income and reduce expenses.
Future Financial Literacy Workshops are planned for St. Johnsbury Academy’s Adult Education Program and for the faculty and staff of Norwich University.
