Reparative Board, "COSA", and Mentor volunteers.
Newport Community Justice Center
Description: NCJC is seeking volunteers to serve on its Reparative Boards, each of which has 4 to 6 community members. Volunteers are trained to conduct a structured problem-solving meeting with persons responsible for and affected by crime. NCJC is also seeking volunteers for its "Circle of Support and Accountability" (COSA) program which assists offenders leaving prison in making a successful transition back into their communities. Additionally, they seek volunteers to serve as mentors for young people (25 and under)at risk of incarceration, and offer family group conferencing in truancy and other risk situations.
