Unemployment Resources:

An Expert Panel Discussion

Vermont’s unemployment rate increased from 3.9 percent in January of 2007 to 6.7 percent in January of 2010, reaching a high of 7.3 percent in May of 2009 during this timeframe (Department of Labor, seasonally adjusted). With the economic downturn, many newly unemployed Vermonters are finding that they need help navigating a system that they have never previously navigated.

In partnership with Central Vermont Community Action Council, dbatespeaking, ORCA Media, ReSOURCE, Vermont Department of Labor and VocRehab Vermont, Green Mountain United Way hosted a panel discussion to assist Central Vermonters with the loss of employment by providing information on developing skills to seek new employment, job training, education opportunities, support services and resources for career planning. Green Mountain United Way collected questions from the community and questions were discussed by the panel on January 5th, 2010.
