The Vermont Long Term Care Ombudsman Project needs volunteers to visit nursing homes, residential care homes and assisted living facilities; research and resolve residents complaints; work with resident and family groups; and monitor care and conditions at facilities. Make a difference in the lives of vulnerable elderly and disabled residents of long term care facilities by being an advocate for their rights and helping resolve issues and concerns.
Following the two days of classroom training and 30 hours of field training, the time commitment is flexible and according to your availability. There is a monthly in-service meeting that is mandatory. We reimburse for mileage traveled for our project. All volunteers have a local supervising ombudsman. Volunteers are assigned to nursing home and residential care homes in their home area.
Requirements: Must be over 18. Great volunteer job for seniors! Good communication, listening and problem solving skills are essential.
