2nd Annual NEK 'Ride the Realm' Bike Ride
Clear skies and pleasant temperatures rewarded the participants of the Second Annual "NEK Ride the Realm" Bike Ride which took place on Saturday, August 13, 2011 in St. Johnsbury, VT. The fund raiser for the benefit of Green Mountain United Way helps support its ongoing initiatives of Financial Stability, Healthy Living, Early Learning and Basic Needs.
The registered riders had their choice of a 50K ride (31 miles) which toured the Connecticut River Byway or a 100K ride (62 miles) through the Groton State Forest. All riders started and ended at St. Johnsbury Academy where they could take advantage of parking, locker and shower facilities.
Bike Ride sponsors included the St. J. Automobile Company, Comfort Inn and Suites, Passumpsic Savings Bank and the Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital. Ride day support was provided by St. J. Automobile Company, Price Chopper, Pepsi Bottling Company and NVRH and the St. Johnsbury Police Department.
Plans are underway for the Third Annual Bike Ride which will take place during the summer of 2012. Information will be posted here as it becomes available. The goal is to support Green Mountain United Way and to provide a Fit and Healthy experience for the participants.
